Today we’re taking a look at a long-standing member of our product range, the ever dependable paper plate. These are a hugely versatile product and a mainstay of home parties and special occasions. They’re used for everything from birthday parties to outdoor events, basically any occasion where you might want to avoid piles of washing up, or if there’s a risk of breakages from using traditional crockery.
We’ve now got lots of options for disposable plates and bowls, made from either paper or sugarcane. The heavy-duty sugarcane items have gained huge popularity in recent times due to their biodegradable properties, and the fact that they’re made from what is essentially a waste product. They’re also very strong items, but this does mean they’re also more expensive.
The humble paper plate is available in the most common sizes; 6” (15cm), 7” (17.5cm) and 9” (23cm). This should make them usable for most occasions that demand a disposable paper plate.
What most people don’t realise is that our range of disposable paper plates are also specifically designed to be biodegradable, unlike a lot of similar items from other manufacturers our plates don’t feature a PE (plastic polyethylene) coating. They’re stamped in such a manner that they have sufficient moisture resistance without any form of additional coating. They can be also be recycled along with your regular paper waste.
Disposable paper plates seem to have come under scrutiny in recent times due to increased pressure on reducing usage of disposables; however untreated plates actually have pretty sound environmental credentials. The raw materials are even from renewable and sustainable sources.
We’re commonly asked for an ‘economy’ alternative to the high quality Bagasse / Sugarcane bowls, as such we’ve launched 2 brand new products. These are made from the same PE (Polyethylene) coated paperboard as our standard range of paper plates but formed into a bowl shape instead.
These are available in 2 sizes; a 16cm / 6” small sized bowl and a 19cm / 7.5” larger sized item. They’re designed to complement our range of economy disposable paper plates, great for high volume or outdoor catering use.
The paper bowls feature a PE coating, this means that you can serve liquids such as soup and oily snacks without the risk of the item leaking or losing its integrity.
You can purchase these as either small packs of 50 or a full case (250 or 600 for the small and large sizes respectively).

Disposable Plastic Glasses
We can supply disposable plastic glasses for beer, soft drinks or spirits in two main types. The high quality Katerglass range is the stronger of the two glasses, made from high-quality injection-molded PP these tumblers are far stronger than any other disposable plastic glasses currently available. The flexible beer glass range of pint/half pint plastic glasses are most cost effective, but do not feature the same level of rigidity.
Disposable Wine Glasses
High clarity crystal-styrene plastic wineglasses are perfect for outdoor occasions. We can supply both smaller (6oz/175ml) or larger (200ml/8oz) wineglasses either as smaller packs or full cases depending on your requirements. Our wine glasses are available as either single-piece items or with a detachable base for compact storage.
Disposable plates are available as either a traditional flexible paper plate or a more rigid biodegradable item. The standard disposable plates are made from virgin grade paper, ideal where larger volumes are required or where smaller plates of cold food will be served. Our high-quality ‘sugarcane’ plates are far stronger items, the increased rigidity coming from use of thicker material. This type of plate is far more suitable where hotter foods will be served and eaten on the move. The material is also suitable for greasy foods and is even suitable for use in the microwave!

We can supply two grades of disposable plates, either a traditional paper plate or the new sugarcane biodegradable plates, but why should you opt for the more expensive sugarcane variety? This very much depends on your requirements, many customers find that the standard grade of disposable paper plate is a perfectly adequate and economical choice.
The benefits of using the sugarcane plates become apparent when you intend to serve hot or oily foods. Because the sugarcane or “Bagasse” material is thicker and more rigid, the plate’s integrity is not compromised by foods of this nature; this means no more soggy absorbent plates!
Another key benefit of our biodegradable plates, and indeed the rest of our sugarcane range, is the ability to use the plates in a Microwave. This is ideal for cooking / reheating snacks or pasta based meals.
You can find a full range of biodegradable plates under our “biodegradable tableware” category, along with a meal boxes, trays and other food containers.
We stock our range of round sugarcane plates in the following sizes:
In addition to the prices above, we also supply the items in full case quantities of 500 plates. This represents the most cost effective way of purchasing larger volumes.
